Deliver Me

Let me uncover a perfect stroke,
And blend it into a breathy hue,
So blue.
One that I could gaze so deeply within,
And forsee a promise so true.

Let me seek out, a starry night,
And wish upon, a star so bright,
Before the trails have left their last,
Radiance in their wake,
That hope has stealthily cometh,
Under the cover of night,
To steal the might,
Of an uncompromising plight.
Deliver Me.

All That I Desire

“Querida! Te Quero….”
The words hung suspended,
Receding through time
To what she encountered instead.
She journeyed forth to America
A place barren and feral.
With a posse of a couple of men,
A safe haven from the elements.
To explore her independence,
Know her mind, Free her heart,
Experience the trials that will alter her throughout.
Sheltered to the day,
Her maman further dismayed
When in a dispatch her father propelled,
To claim a land that’s Free
So she could be all that she wanted to be.
She traversed the great expanse,
Her maman vexed her, taking each chance
Prompting her of dangers in every circumstance.
Of Indian raids, of floods on the plains,
Of men with loose morals,
Of bitter winters and scorching heat.
Strong willed and pretty,
Violet eyes and sunset curly.
A women to turn men - unsteady into ready.
A soldier towering and primed,
Long dark hair and vaquero eyes
Tilted up in amusement besides.
Their heated words and maddening postures,
Hid secret looks, and grandiose obstacles.
He seduced her innocence liberating her feelings,
As the wild open land just beneath their feet.
She braved many outlaws, A raid - an almost rape
A flood, a politician, a sister she never knew – hated.
They snatched her - then spooked her
To rest her treasured land away from her
Irrefutable – her father had left it Before he expired.
To her rescue he came
A painted hombrero with a pinto complete.
Guns blazing he appeared to her – in heat.
“Throw down your weapons,
Hold up your hands –
Move closer to each other
So I can bound your feet and hands.”
The army rounded the corner in the nick of time
While he tossed her atop his horse,
And sped away up the recline.
To keep her out of harm’s way and protected,
Under his appellation for life.
“My heart – I love you deeply”, she said
He, “ Querida, you are my life replete.

Fields of Fire.

Open fields of land no end,
Freedom abound to the west. To the west!
To settle down, To brave the best.
To claim a piece of land. A fortress.
Open carriages under cornflower skies,
Streaming behind a trail mile high.
She left the town and never looked behind
To seek her life while she was in her prime.
She joined her father without a care.
And got three men killed,
Until He came to rescue her.
Broad and aloof aside a ride,
A white gelding with obsidian eyes.
Hair to shoulder, black as night,
A feather of an eagle braided and tied.
A Mighty Brave, with a breechcloth tight,
And skin turned bronze under the blazing skies.
He brought her to her father –
Unpleased by his daughter’s calamity.
He gave her a house in a town, far out.
To keep her safe, out of sight. Just out.
The Bold Brave Indian, Saw her angry frown,
His eyes grew more speculative,
With her fierce beauty unbound.
Her father left her to the cruelties of war,
Between the Apaches who would do them harm,
And the soldiers who came to take over the pound.
The fine-looking brave, half Indian half white,
With no place to go but a wickiup in his tribe.
His band rode into the campsite in a great big cloud
To extend their arms. To defend the crowd.
To prove to the uniforms not all Apaches
Are cut from the same cloth as the baddies,
That raid and maim and pillage for gain.
Day in day out, she was blooming - breathtaking
Grasping his gentleness, and holding onto silent greetings.
Night time meetings, and sacred feelings,
All built up to an extraordinary completeness.
In a war for the best, the will of man - tested.
White men fought to claim in their name – great fame
To vacate the Indians to make them feel displaced.
Bloodbath and death, peace pipes and treaties
A long war that left people in pieces.
As a skirmish broke out, she was scooped up aloft,
And he rode away to his people up the creek
They found peace by their own little stream,
She wore buckskin and moccasins, and gathered peat,
To keep their winter fires, and entrap the heat.
While he hunted buffalo and antelope, and drank off his mead.
Together they discovered an abiding love.
Over years of affection a legacy was born.

More than Love

My Sweetheart, my Love
My life in a nutshell,
Is trying to make her remember
What we once were.

I’m not on her mind these days,
Nor are our lovely childrens’ face.
She’s forgotten all our many blessings,
As time keeps pacing on.

In a moment of clarity
She recalls her love for me,
Confident how it came to be,
As our story unfolds
page by page painstakingly.
Then she asks who Am I to be,
And backs away heartbreakingly.

Each and everyday,
One lucid moment I long to see.
As her memory fades away
For what we are to each.
The tears begin, The heart aches
No more! No more I think I can take,
My love forsakes.
One gaze upon her face, I see my mistake,
I hold on fast to the glimpses of yesterday.
Her lovely smile, her dreamy eyes,
The little crinkle that appeared with time.
Her love, her zest, her passion, her best
Was all wrapped up in our lives no less.

For a minute there time went back
We were dashing around in our great big spread,
Laughter and joy echoed through the halls.
Our love for each other sustained us through
All the times we fought, all the times we loved too.
My sweetheart and I, will end our days,
Even though she can’t remember me anymore,
My home is where she is - forevermore.

Dedicated to all Alzheimer’s sufferers.

Jumper

By the light of the silvery moon,
An owl fringed in gloom.
It’s sharp eyes drawn to the white
Rising foam that loomed
From a little grove in the clearing,
To the path of love not war
Where several natives prepared an alter,
Hoping for a miracle of one.

A little bell tinkled
To announce the summons,
And the florescent cloud dissipated.
To reveal a beautiful warrior garbed in attire,
That told of folklore and fate.
He fought for honor,
In a time that disgraced
His mark of difference from the others.
A gorgeous Knight,
As dark as it’s light
With eyes reminiscent of golden coins.

In his time, he left behind
A shrine to his greatness, his strength.
For marching onto Rome,
With a small band of comrades
To revenge the murder of his people.
Bands of steel, surrounded his well-honed body,
Shut away in a cell, no day no night.
To be tortured and beaten
Sport for the rich, that was his end.

Freed from the horror,
His mentor stood in place of him,
To behold the glory of his name.
His father was a lord, he’d discovered
A Roman he was born to abhor.
He asked him for a weapon, and a cup of night wine,
Blessed and divined by the Druids.
Gaul that he was he found himself,
In a place so far gone from the world he was born.
With cars, and planes that scaled the skies,
Moving pictures and neon signs.
There he found his Lady Love,
Destined for him. They fit like a glove.
He sold his gold, became land rich,
Enabling him to hold his own. In the land of the free.
A protector. A provider. A lover. A suitor.
Now he wanted the ultimate - A marriage cup for two.
To share his life with the only woman
Who taught him love rules.

A Shot in the dark.

Be steady my heart,
The one truth has come,
Many have pretended,
The rest were contented.
To be a shot in the dark.

Truth is where the heart is.
The heart beats wild for you.
An octave higher,
When you are near.
A heart broke in two,
When you are clear away.

Come hold me close,
Softly whisper to me,
Your pretty words
And enchanted dreams.
So I may see myself
Living in your fantasies.
The perfect man for me,
The perfect woman for him.
Pity – It’s not me.
MEN! Amazing what they choose to see.

Mistletoe Summer

Mistletoe and Heather,
Joyful faces in Blue Summer weather.
Popping Bottles
And christmasy sounds of cheer,
Merrily from ear to ear.
Gift-wrappers and glowing colors,
Piled high under a sparkling tree.
Next morn bits of paper straggling here and there.
Hip hip hoorah! Come kiss me my lovelies.
Just our father bringing cheer to everyone
That he could see.
In the quite of night,
When the day is all done.
A little bit more cheer to see us through
For the meat braaiing over the coals.
Unto bed then we will go
With a ho-ho-ho and a merry old soul.

Cry Freedom

The Lonely hour ticks on by,
While a solid shadow dog’s each step of mine.
Inside these bars
I stare and stare
But the walls don’t dare move.
For a glimpse of blue.
My soul cries out for a spot, a ray.
A beam to warm my face.
No hope but a cold passing day.
No one to put these ghosts to sleep.
I weep so profoundly,
My loss all these years.
That I have never grown to enjoy
From each and every dismay.
In a grey world with no doors,
It is I who have locked me in.
Out! Out! I want to live
To learn to love the things I don’t.
To work at life and
Breathe in tomorrow.
With Dawn’s fresh hope
Just over the horizon.

Only….

 Only by your presence
I feel this need to be
Every women to thee.
Only by your touch
I feel this complete peace
Within me.
Only by your kiss
A certainty
we have been here before.
Fate has smiled.
So we shall be Forevermore.
Destined.
Only in your arms
My doubts, my dreams,
My past, my feelings
A sudden clarity.
Only after a thousand and one heart beats
Will you lose your heart to me
For all eternity.
Only…

Soul to Soul

So boldly he stands
This gallant knight . I tremble.
As magnificent in mine eyes.
All powerful. All primitive.
Dark eyes that rest upon me.
Merging. Defeating me.
My resistance crumbles
Now no barriers to protect me.
His echo beseeching my heart.
Drawn to his words that implore me with love
He promises to cherish
He promises too much
When he reaches me with the truth of his heart.
That he would rather die than live without me
I felt an oddity.
A warmth that reached my heart.
His love was my love
Forbidden unto everyman but one.
As soul to soul we become one.

I Wish

Seems Like only yesterday
My heart beat wild,
When your arms encircled me so
Our memories but a few
As last twice as long
And my heart grows fonder of the absence of the one.
Today I think on the first of the firsts,
As I gaze out into the starry night.
I see mountains,
Io see trees,
I see the lights of the night,
Shimmering in the breeze.
I close my eyes and see all these,
When I open them again –
I wish I could see you here with me.

Solid as a Rock

It don’t feel right when my arms are bare of you,
A young girl’s dream of being swept away
Of stolen kisses in the candlelight
Of a red hot romance and other delights,
Of red roses on her pillow each morn
On an island paradise,
And a soft breeze billowing in and out.
Each night comes
Your arms enfold me so,
Your smile so heavenly,
Never to mar my soul.
My certainty grows with each passing moment,
In your eyes I glimpsed a strength shine though.
Around me your arms so strong and sure,
Gives proof of a love, forevermore.
And this night like many before
I know no dreams can compare,
As to how good it feels right here…with you.

No Long Good-Byes

Block by Block,
Solid!
You laid the foundation,
You helped build these walls,
For 10 long years.
A kind word here,
A nudge that way.
You got me to create
My words on paper.
You took them and made them,
Into changes for the future.
The Ultimate!
To give land back to the people.
To correct the injustice
Of White and Black.
To be fair and transparent and all of that.
I’m proud to be the tool,
With which you wielded your changes.
Now it is time to leave this LAND
And explore other places.
To ply my tool once more
And help make the necessary transformation.

Tommorrow

Someday….One Day,
When all our dreams will come alive
Till then these hands will build them,
Brick by Brick,
Step by Step
Reaching for the Skies.
End of that Long Road
When that bloody sun is peaking on the distant shore,
And the soft light illuminates the grey,
Another day dawns, with the dreams reborn
Where hope blossoms like blooms in springtime
And all the world’s splayed at our feet.
The years have braced us,
Despite the wounds of war
Each with a bleeding tale,
That will not be forgotten.
Someday –
We’ll walk into tomorrow
Into the Winner’s Circle.
With love in our hands, faith in our hearts,
And dreams in our eyes to conquer.
One day.

Love Conquers….

So Many Times,
In So Many Ways
You Showed Just How Much you Cared.
From Me to You,
With all that’s true
My Love Will Blow away your blues.

Whooooooooo….whooooooooo!

Little Ray of Sunshine

For My Son

He walks in sunshine
A glow at his back
A bounce in his step
A beatific smile to melt your heart,
Or forgive with a hug,
Esconced as snug as a bug
In your arms.
He treads in lightness,
Of Heart and Feet.
Pitter patter at your side with sweet,
His luminous gaze
Searching your eyes
To share in his wonder
Of the first times.
The joy in his face
When he sees the big purple one,
Or the fish that got away in the pond.
His awe knew no bounds,
When his eyes closed around
A sugary memory,
And a need to have it once more.
His stinky fingers in your hair, on your dress
Complete with smears.
His sweet-filled breathe,
His words not yet.
“I love you Mommy,”
Melts away your threat.

Lost

Children! A delight
So meek shall inherit
Out! No loving tonight

To prey on, or not to Prey on.

A big white shark
Lurking in the deep dark
Grill Rakers Bared.

Dreaming

To be there when the moon’s rising
To hear the wind cry
And sad memories come flooding in
When I walk in a place out of time.
On a scented evening, on a still lake
At a stones throw
I watch my image take life.
Dancing on the soft earth,
Hearing sweet tunes in my ear
Of a softly lilting voice that came to a stop on a sigh
Echoing into this romantic night.
Inserting my hands in his large ones
Allowing him to lead the way.
Dancing and gliding all night through
Standing in the shadow of the moon.
We glanced towards each other
Hoping. Anticipating for something.
We wined and dined in the garden by the moonlight
With scented roses drifting on the breeze.
Suddenly the dark blanket was ripped away,
The sun shone down mischievously.
All were memories in this big room
Surrounded by reality too soon.

Stars

Stars glow brightly
Surrounding our Universe
Twinkling at Night.

Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend

Where Diamonds Shall lie,
Our future will be at stake
It enchants our lives.

Proudly SA: My First Adventure to Pretoria

Along the road we leave behind
Concrete jungles and neon signs.
Far and away into my country,
Flat grasslands, hills, mountains and rivers like bounty.
A little scatter here and there
Of cows of horses of tractors of men.
Fields of gold blossoms of summer
To brighten one’s eyes and sigh with wonder.
Swish swash! Swish swash!
Across the windows of the bus.
Slivers of water beating down in a hush.
I wish there was more of god’s earth to see
Even though my rear end hurt,
Like a bear scratching on the bark of a tree.

Hot Chocolate Dreams

When I gaze upon your face
I see into the windows of your soul
In your eyes a silver twinkle,
And your lips stretched in half a smile.
You say words like “I care.’
Then gaze at me in that special way
When you embrace my hand in yours
Insistently saying I’ll love you more than you’ll ever know.
I close my eyes and think of him
In candy coated feelings and hot chocolate dreams
Like the way he’d walk beside me
Under a bejeweled summer night sky
And meet me at sunrise with a glance and a sigh.
And when all said and done,
The years have come and gone.
The silver twinkle never dims, never dwindles.
When mine eyes they flickered wide open
A sight so beautiful that leaves me breathless
Eyes looking back gleefully,
With a Love so complete for me.

Heart of Mine

The first time I gazed, So quick to glance away.
But returned your stare, Each time each day.
Within my heart I know tis not true to feel so good
Afraid of the past  That will come back
To haunt me still.
Come or go I knew not what I will,
So close to you To make you apart of me
To forget what’s right or wrong inside of me.
To reach out and touch the heart of you.
A fervent wish. A need to love you so.
Oh love, this time let it be as it will
That time and time again you’ll love me still.

Uninhibited

Come ye, my friend,
When has it come to be?
A surer hold on my life you yield.
My sight before me,
A vision I see.
A spirit more kindred
A life like me.
My feelings enclosed in this wall of doubt
I pray for the musical notes
To scream out aloud.
So lost inside a world of fear,
Least should my fantasies become real.
Whence my hand I hold out to thee,
Embrace it so boldly,
And never set it free.
A barrier of confusion
That you must conquer to see,
A heart untouched
With a promise to love so deep
Alors my love, no love has set me free,
So teach me to love you – so wholely, so completely.
That lost in you in time I will want to be.
That nary a negative word said
Because you are with me
So free! So free! Now that I come to thee.
