DAD

Your smile so full of love,
A twinkle in your eye.
A snapshot on my mind.

Your arms open so wide,
It is useless to hide,
Like the sun when it shines,
So bright.
It touches the darkest places
with it’s light.

The simple joy I covet,
Of knowing you are there,
So that I never forget
Home is where you are,
Always on my radar.

You where snatched away too soon,
To see my heart was true,
No doubts have accrued,
To change what I feel for you.

A blink of an eye,
And time will pass by.
Just to look into your smile,
I would gladly walk a mile.

Till then, I will hold you dear,
And let loving memories
To spread and heal,
Of times I cherish the best,

(Ode to my dad: 1941-2011)

OF WORDS AND HEARTSTRINGS

A smile that broke the barriers,
A heart so full of love,
Forgiveness it hurts, but perishes
A pain so full of doubt.

A love hard won by war,
Of words and heartstrings crushed.
Amazing light brims over,
When ash settles
To dust.

Contentment, a sigh hidden beneath
A bushel of resolve replete,
Smiles to bring closer,
The ones so far away.
